(Relaxnews) - After being carried across the United Kingdom for 68 days, the Olympic flame will arrive in London on Thursday, July 26, the day before the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. For this last step of its journey before it is brought into the Olympic Stadium, 175 people will participate in a relay that sees the torch cross all the neighborhoods of the British capital, from Camden to Westminster.
Before being contained in a cauldron within the Olympic stadium, the flame will go through Camden, Islington, the City of London, Southwark, Lambeth, Wandsworth, Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham to arrive at the City of Westminster.
The torch carriers will take their route past the former Olympic stadium of White City, which hosted the 1908 Games. Before its arrival at the 2012 venue, the flame will visit tourist sites like Trafalgar Square, Downing Street -- residence of the British prime minister -- and Buckingham Palace, one of the royal residences.
The end of the Olympic torch relay will be feted with a concert in Hyde Park, with Dizzee Rascal, The Wanted, Mark Ronson & Katy B, Eliza Doolittle, You me at six, Rizzle kicks, Wretch 32, Morning Parade, Loick Essien and Little Comets performing. Tickets to attend the concert are available through Ticketmaster.co.uk/coca-colacelebrations.
When the Olympic torch, which started its journey May 19 at Land's End in the UK's southwest, comes to its resting place, it will have crossed close to 12,800 kilometers and have visited 74 British cities.
